音樂除了是不可或缺的精神食糧，也是抵抗與表態的媒介，《南部人來玩》將引介三個由台灣中南部東南亞移工組成的樂團，包括雷鬼樂團Mejikuhibiniu（印尼）、Guhit Band（菲律賓）、以及專攻龐克Oi風格的南部鬧事團SOUTHERN RIOT（印尼）。除了音樂演出，在台灣成立超過十一年的Uters Taiwan舞團（印尼），也將以三支舞邀請觀眾一起搖擺。

Mejikuhibiniu是一個由新北、桃園、台中、彰化、台南的印尼移工組成的雷鬼樂團。團員們皆來自西爪哇省的南安由雷鬼同好會（Paguyuban Musisi dan Pecinta Reggae Indramayu，PMPRI），也各自在不同的樂團擔任樂手，並經常在表演活動上相見，大家相繼來到台灣工作後，重新在異鄉聚首，決定一起組樂團。「Mejikuhibiniu」取名自印尼文「紅（merah）橙（jingga）黃（kuning）綠（hijau）藍（biru）靛（nila）紫（ungu）」縮寫，希望以多元的彩色，傳遞雷鬼不分種族、宗教、世代的和平精神。

Southerners Come to Play
In addition to being indispensable spiritual nourishment, music is a medium for resistance and expression. Southerners Come to Play introduces three bands from central and southern Taiwan, comprised of Southeast Asian migrant workers: reggae bands Mejikuhibiniu (Indonesia) and Guhit Band (the Philippines) and Oi! band SOUTHERN RIOT (Indonesia). In addition, Uters Taiwan Dance Company (Indonesia), which was established in Taiwan more than 11 years ago, presents three interactive dance performances.

Mejikuhibiniu is a reggae band made up of Indonesian migrant workers living in New Taipei, Taoyuan, Taichung, Changhua, and Tainan. They are all from Paguyuban Musisi dan Pecinta Reggae Indramayu (PMPRI) in West Java. They originally played in different bands, often meeting up during performances. Arriving in Taiwan one after another, they reunited and decided to form a band. Mejikuhibiniu is an abbreviation of the colors of the rainbow in the Indonesian language: red (merah), orange (jingga), yellow (kuning), green (hijau), blue (biru), indigo (nila), and violet (ungu), conveying the spirit of reggae, which crosses ethnicities and religions to promote world peace.

This is a music collective of Indonesian migrant workers living in Tainan, Kaohsiung, and Pingtung. They focus on the Oi! subgenre of punk rock and adhere to the Skinhead spirit of hard work, love of family, and unity.
